When no one else would help us, Sherrod Brown fought to save BAC pensions.
That’s why BAC Local 23 is standing with Sherrod Brown.
When the Great Recession crippled union pension funds—including our own Columbus and Akron pensions—most politicians offered workers nothing but a few empty words of sympathy. But Sherrod Brown stepped up.
He introduced the Butch Lewis Pension Relief Act to save our pensions, and he didn’t quit fighting for years until he got the law passed. Now, thanks to Sherrod, Local 23 members in Akron and Columbus know they’ll get everything they earned in retirement.
And that’s why BAC Local 23 is fighting to send Sherrod Brown back to the Senate.

Remembering Joseph DeFuria, 78 Year Member
On September 8, 2026, Local 23 Northeast, Youngstown (formerly Local 8), lost a great member, Joseph DeFuria, at the age of 100.
A World War II veteran, Joseph was a 78-year member of our union and had a 43-year career in the trade. On October 24, 2022, we had the honor of presenting him with his 75-year membership award, attended by his son, Dennis DeFuria, along with then Regional Field Representative Jeremy Rivas and President Lee Kurtz.
