Each year, BAC awards three scholarships to students whose parents or stepparents are BAC members in the United States. The scholarships provide $5,000 per year for up to four years, totaling as much as $20,000.
This year, Samantha Moll is one of the recipients! Samantha is the daughter of Matthew Moll, a longtime Local 23 member and part of a proud union family. She graduated from Sandy Valley High School this spring and will attend the University of Akron this fall, where she will study Civil Engineering.
Last year, Matthew’s son, Tucker, received the 2025 Bates Scholarship and is preparing to begin his second year at the University of Akron, where he is studying Aeronautical Engineering.
Matthew’s oldest son, Trapper, is also a proud member of Local 23!
“Congratulations to Samantha for earning the Bates Scholarship. It couldn’t have gone to a more deserving young student or a more deserving union family. Matt and his son are valuable members of our union, and I’m so happy their family is able to take advantage of the great benefits and opportunities our union provides. The entire Local 23 family wishes Samantha the very best of luck at the University of Akron!” said Drew Fernandez, Northeast Ohio Chapter Chairperson.
